A week today I'll be setting off on an adventure around Europe for about six and a half weeks!
Me and my sister Amy have had this trip in mind for the last year, however we've only started making plans recently, we don't even know the exact date we're coming home yet. We plan to fly out to Amsterdam and fly home from Italy, possibly Sicily. Whist we're there, we'll get around by train using our Interrail passes and other public transport. There's still a lot we've got to figure out over the next week, but here's what we've got planned so far.
Initial Itinerary
Saturday 25th April - Arrive in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (this also happens to be our parents anniversary)
Sunday 26th April - Visit Anne Frank's house
Monday 27th April - Celebrate Kings day - this is a national holiday in the Netherlands that celebrates the Kings birthday and everyone dresses in orange.
Tuesday 28th April - Visit Utrecht for the day
Wednesday 29th April - Travel to Brussels, Belgium
Thursday 30th April - Visit Little Europe - Amy went here on a uni trip and it sounds really interesting: it has miniature models of iconic European buildings.
Friday 1st May - Have a day in Bruges then travel to Paris, France
Saturday 2nd May - Visit the Eiffel Tower
Monday 4th May - Travel to somewhere in or near the The Loire Valley, possibly Tours
Wednesday 5th May - Travel to Toulouse
Saturday 9th May - Travel to Switzerland, possibly Geneva
Tuesday 12th May - Travel to somewhere in the south of Germany
Friday 15th May - Travel to Prague, Czech Republic
Sunday 17th May - Travel to Salzburg, Austria - this is where the sound of music was set
Wednesday 20th May - Travel to Italy and spend two and a half(ish) weeks in Italy
Interrail Tickets
These plans are just a guide at the moment and are likely to change as we go along. As you can see, the adventure is in two parts. For the first part, we are using a '10 in 20' global Interrail pass, which means we can travel by train on 10 days out of a 20 day time frame, which will be 1st May to the 20th May.
The second part of our adventure will be spent in Italy which is a place we are really excited about exploring in more depth. We aim to start at the top and make our way down. Whist out there we will be using an Italy One Country Pass, which will cover us for six days of train travel in Italy.
Got any tips?
If you have any advice on where to go or what to see, please feel free to leave us a comment. We're new to travelling so any information will help.
